IntroductionBuilding awareness about Peer Support can make a dramatic difference for the individual physician, but also the culture in the system of medicine. Discussion about Doc to Doc Peer Support in department meetings, physician lounges, and peer review meetings will build awareness of the program and help to normalize physicians asking for help. A career in medicine can take a toll emotionally and physically. We appreciate your help in creating a movement for physicians to support one another so that doctors can not only better navigate a careers in medicine, but also flourish in the process.

Email Blurb:As burnout rates in the healthcare workforce continue to increase, it has never been more important for physicians to properly care for their mental, emotional, and physical health. Making physicians’ health a priority can be difficult considering the conditioning of physicians and the expectations of the system of medicine. It’s why the CMA is launching the Doc to Doc Peer Support program. Programs like this one have been shown to reduce burnout in physicians and improve overall physician well-being. Healthier physicians provide better care to patients and are less likely to leave the practice of medicine. Here's how we can help physicians who need support:
The Doc to Doc Peer Support program is designed to provide access to an empathetic network of physician peers who have been professionally trained to support colleagues in need. The goal is to ensure Ohio physicians feel emotional and psychological support from those who have walked in their shoes. All participation in the Doc to Doc peer support program is confidential, free, and completely voluntary. Doc to Doc is supported by the Columbus Medical Association Foundation.
