The Columbus Medical Association applauded the recent passage of the Community Crisis Response Amendment (Issue 5) in Columbus.
CEO of the Columbus Medical Association & Affiliates, Tracy Davidson, along with Public Policy Committee Co-Chairs William Cotton, MD, and Chris Brown, MD, wrote an op-ed in the Columbus Dispatch in support of the initiative, which will help ensure our neighbors in crisis are met with the right response from trained clinicians, social workers, and crisis specialists – not just law enforcement.
This is a powerful example of how CMA works on behalf of physicians. By elevating physicians’ firsthand experiences caring for patients in mental health and substance use crises, CMA:
- Gives physicians a trusted public voice on issues affecting their patients and the health of our community.
- Advocates for evidence-based solutions that improve outcomes and reduce strain on emergency departments and hospitals.
- Secures a seat at the table with city leaders, first responders, and community organizations as new programs are designed and implemented.
- Ensures physician expertise shapes policy decisions that impact healthcare delivery across Central Ohio.
When you are a member of CMA, your perspective carries greater influence. Together, physicians can help shape policies that support patients, strengthen the profession, and build a healthier community for all.
