Applications are open for the Columbus Medical Association Foundation’s Youth Advisory Council that teaches students about healthcare philanthropy with real opportunities to make a difference. 

The CMA Foundation was established in 1958 and has injected millions of dollars into health and wellness initiatives in our community. In 2001, it launched the Youth Advisory Committee to help build a passion for philanthropy in our youth.

The council is made up entirely of students ages 13-18 and meets monthly to hear grant applications for programs aimed at addressing youth health concerns in their funding priority areas, which include mental health and suicide, bullying and peer pressure, and body image and self-esteem. The students learn the processes involved in grantmaking and ultimately vote on the programs to fund. Since it launched, the council has provided more than $288,000 to programs affecting youth in the central Ohio community.

We invite our physician members to share this opportunity with their own children and others in their network. Any greater Columbus area student in grades 8-12 can apply to become a member.
